On This Day In Arsenal's History

On This Day IN 1971 Arsenal reached the FA Cup final by beating Stoke City 2-0 in the semi-final replay.

George Graham and Ray Kennedy got the goals that made the final score 2-0 to the Gunners.

It was Arsenal's first cup final in 19 years. The opponents would be Liverpool.

On This Day In 1973 Frank McLintock played his final game for the club.

It could have been a better ending for the skipper because Derby County beat Arsenal 0-1 at Highbury.

McLintock was substituted and subsequently sold to Queens Park Rangers and the dream of regaining the title faded as Arsenal gained just one win from the six remaining games after this.

On This Day In 2001 goals from Robert Pires and Thierry Henry saw Arsenal win 2-0 against the shitty Middlesex side at Highbury.

A fitting tribute as on this day the great David 'Rocky' Rocastle died coincidence maybe that Pires would score in the number 7 shirt?

Rocky died of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of just 33 but is rightly remembered on this date every year by Arsenal fans.
