South London met north London today in 1896 when Woolwich Arsenal travelled to White Hart Lane. In a 1-3 win for the team from Plumstead Adam Haywood scored and Patrick O'Brien bagged a brace.
Woolwich Arsenal failed to register a goal today in 1898 at the Northolme Ground and were beaten 1-0 by Gainsborough Trinity. Right back James McAuley made the last of his 27 appearances for the club in his season long stay.
In the Southern District Combination today in 1900 Woolwich Arsenal got a 1-1 draw with Reading at the Manor Ground. Andrew McCowie got the goal that kept the Arsenal portion of the 1,200 spectators satisfied.
