Early Days
On This Day In 1880 midfielder Bobby Templeton was born in Coylton, Scotland. He joined Woolwich Arsenal in 1904 from Newcastle United and played 41 times, getting a single goal. He left in 1906, returned to Scotland and played for Glasgow Celtic.
Today in 1890 Royal Arsenal went to Clapton and beat them 0-2. Unfortunately the names of the goalscorers have yet to be found.
At the Manor Ground today in 1897 Woolwich Arsenal were beaten 2-3 by Small Heath (now Birmingham City). Frank McAvoy and Adam Haywood got the consolation goals.
Another defeat for Woolwich Arsenal when they were beaten 1-0 by Doncaster Rovers at the Intake Ground on this date in 1902.
It was the Gunners that got the 1-0 win on this date in 1907 as Charlie Satterthwaite's goal was enough to beat Sheffield Wednesday at the Manor Ground.
