On This Day February 27th

February 27th 2002 At Highbury today,Bayer Leverkusen were up against Arsenal in the Champions League.

Robert Pires, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira all scored in a 4-1 Arsenal win. 


February 27th 1932: Leeds Road attracted it's largest ever attendance today when 67,037 spectators turned out to watch Huddersfield Town host Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter finals. 

A Herbie Roberts goal settled the tie 0-1 in Arsenal's favour and they would play Manchester City in the semi-final. 

Over 100 fans were treated for injuries due to poor to non-existent crowd control.

February27th 1988 :A win for Arsenal today. 

Paul Merson scored twice and Alan Smith and Michael Thomas chipped in with a goal a piece for a 4-0 demolition of Charlton Athletic at Highbury. See the goals below.




February 27th 1897:At the Manor Ground on this day,Woolwich Arsenal faced their closest rivals Millwall Athletic in the United League. 

James Brock (Pictured) scored and Patrick O'Brien got a brace in a 3-1 win. 

The match was watched by 15,000 the highest attendance for any United League match.
