On This Day February 26th

February 26th 1986 Nacho Monreal was born in Pamplona, Spain. His career started at Osasuna where he stepped up to the first team in 2006.

By 2011 he had moved on to Malaga but the cash strapped Spanish club sold him to Arsenal on the 31st of January 2013.

Initially Nacho's performances were questioned by many and he found himself mainly second choice to Kieran Gibbs.

After a spell covering at centre back Monreal returned to the right back position and it is Gibbs who has found it difficult to get the match time with Monreal's stats and performances rightly rewarding him with his name first on the team sheet.

February 26th 2012 Tomas Rosicky scored his first goal in two years.

There were few better times to do it than at the Emirates in a 5-2 victory over the north London enemy.

Theo Walcott got two in the match and Bacary Sagna and Robin van Persie both got on the score sheet as well.

February 26th 1966 Arsenal sold striker Joe Baker to Nottingham Forest for a fee of £65,000.

In 156 matches Baker scored 100 times after joining from Italian side Torino for a club record fee of £70,000 in 1962.

February 26th 29,070 fans saw eight goals when Burnley came to Highbury today in 1927.

The Arsenal fans were the happy ones after it ended 6-2 to the London side.

Sid Hoar and Charlie Buchan registered goals but James Brain (Pictured) excelled with four to his name.

I hope the fans enjoyed it as Arsenal then lost six matches on the trot and conceded 26 goals.
